Fujitsu Limited announced today that it has developed and started providing a new core business system for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The system enables real-time information management for all supply chain operations, covering parts for ships and aircraft, as well as the procurement and maintenance of ammunition, medical supplies, and food. It is designed to support the logistics needs of approximately 45,000 personnel.
The platform replaces older, fragmented processes with a unified digital backbone. By centralizing data on inventory levels, procurement status, and maintenance schedules, the system allows logistics officers to make faster, more accurate decisions. This is critical for maintaining operational readiness, as delays in parts or supplies can directly impact mission capability.
Fujitsu built the system to handle the unique complexity of military logistics, which requires strict tracking of sensitive materials and adherence to security protocols. The company stated that the solution improves visibility across the entire supply chain, from ordering to delivery. While specific technical details were not disclosed, the system is expected to reduce manual paperwork and lower the risk of shortages or overstock.
The deployment marks a significant step in modernizing the Self-Defense Force's back-end operations, aligning with broader efforts to digitize defense infrastructure. Fujitsu emphasized that the system will continue to evolve to meet future demands.
